Nike Hypershift Initial Thoughts
Nike will be dropping another new basketball shoe this summer (rumors suggest July) called the Nike Hypershift. Nike still seems pretty dedicated to prefixing Hyper to everything they produce. The Hypershift is a low top basketball shoe that is most likely a budget or mid tier model. The solid rubber outsole looks worrisome, Don and Sammy are suspicious, as are numerous other sneaker sites. The midsole is also a bit mysterious, with one outlet reporting that it will probably feature a drop in midsole, and another that it will feature Zoom. These possibilities are not mutually exclusive, but there does not seem to be much in the way of certainty about what cushions setup Nike plans on implementing. When we do receive more information about the shoe, we will be sure to give you an update. The Nike Hypershift will feature a thick knitted mesh similar to the Melo M12 that appears to be a bootie/sock like construction designed to comfortably wrap around your foot. The upper also features dynamic Flywire for added support and lockdown. Don and Sammy are not huge fans of the bootie setup, they pointed out that it is difficult to get the fit right, it either has to be perfect or it be problematic. As of right now, we do not have any additional information about the Nike Hypershift, but we do have pictures of two color ways. The red, white, and blue color way clearly indicates that Team USA will utilize these shoes in the Rio Olympics, lending credibility to the rumors that the shoe will drop in July.
The Sole Brothers think Nike should slow down the rate at which they produce new silhouettes. The Nike Hypershift will join the KD9 and the 3 Hyperdunk 2016 models (low, EM high, and Elite). The Hypershift shares a few similarities to the Hyperdunk 2016 low, which seems to render the Nike Hypershift redundant unless the price difference is massive. The shoe looks pretty dope, but not the greatest looking shoe. The tech looks so-so with the traction being the biggest question mark for the shoe. Tell us what you think in the comments, check out a selection of images of the Nike Hypershift, and watch the Sole Brothers discuss their initial thoughts.
