Under Armour Curry 3 First Impressions

Sammy recently recieved the Under Armour Curry 3 from @richeekim a few weeks before the official launch. So today we will be going over Sammy’s First Impressions and a Tech Overview of the Curry 3. The outsole uses a one piece rubber unit with a herringbone pattern and a pivot point in the forefoot area. So far Sammy reports that the traction is okay, but he has only played in it once so the outsole may break in and improve over time. The midsole uses Under Armour’s full length Charged foam cushion with a raised area in the heel for added stability and support. There is also a very plush and comfortable insole. Sammy is not particularly excited about this setup as it feels very stiff and thinner than in previous models. Underneath the midsole and wrapping around the side of the shoe in the midfoot area is a carbon fiber shank for added responsiveness and support. The upper uses two different materials, the lateral side of the shoe and toe area is a textile material like a performance woven. The medial side of the shoe uses a foam material that has a denim like texture. The textile material feels soft, but not quite as nice as a jacquard like the one used in the D Lillard 2 or Jordan 29. The medial side’s materials are very stiff and do not conform to your foot and feels very sturdy, Sammy feels like the foam material should have been on the lateral side and the textile on the medial side so that you could get adequate support during hard cuts. The tongue of the Curry 3 is attached about 3/4 of the way up the shoe to give you the snug fit of a bootie while retaining the ability to adjust the materials like a normal shoe with a full tongue. Sammy got a half of a size larger than his usual size since he was told that it ran small, but he has a little extra room so we will probably recommend going true to size. Sammy did not say that the Curry 3 fits poorly or isn’t supportive, but he did say that he enjoyed the fit of the Curry 2 more. Stay tuned for the Curry 3 Performance Review which will drop in a few weeks, watch Sammy discuss his First Impressions down below, and let us know what you think of the Curry 3 in the comments.
